Barbara Webster

Updated on 24 March 2026

We are sad to learn one of our members, Barbara Webster, passed away yesterday morning.

Barbara loved coming to the Centre on Tuesday mornings and supported everything the Tuesday Club committee arranged. She celebrated her 95th birthday in September.

We send our condolences to Barbara’s family and friends during this sad time.

Update 15.03.2026: Barbara’s funeral will take place on Thursday 9 April at 11am in Emmanuel Church on Cambridge Road.

Update 24.03.2026: the family have requested anyone attending the funeral on 9 April to wear bright colours.

Pancakes and Irish bingo set for Tuesday 24 February

Due to the club being closed on Tuesday 17 February because of repairs to the floor by the back door, there will be a change of programme for Tuesday 24 February.

We will be having pancakes (£1 per person), brought forward from week before, and a game of Irish bingo (also £1 per person).

Tuesday Club 2026 AGM

The Tuesday Club held its 2026 A.G.M. yesterday (27 January) after being moved from 13 January. Despite the very cold weather, eight people attended the meeting. The main points from this meeting are:

  • after nomination votes had been counted and verified, it was confirmed all officers continue for another year – Debbie Halsall as Chairperson, Barry Miller as Vice-Chair, and Mavis Husbands as Treasurer
  • membership fees remain at £10 and must be paid by end of February
  • following a vote, it was agreed members over 80 now need to pay membership fees
  • it was agreed the entrance fee – for refreshments etc. – be increased from £2 to £3 with £2 going to Management Committee and £1 for TC funds
  • the price for bingo games remains at £5
  • the TC programme has been changed from every 6 months to 3 months because it is easier to make changes if needed
  • there will be no TC in August again this year

If any members have questions, please see one of the officers when in the Centre.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the Tuesday Club.

Tuesday Club AGM moved to 27 January

The Tuesday Club should have had their A.G.M. today (13 January) but due to not everyone being there, it was decided to postpone the meeting until 27 January. This will make sure all members get the chance to nominate their person of choice for Chairperson, Vice-Chair and Treasurer.

The vote count will be done before the start of the A.G.M. and the results declared during the meeting. Depending on time after the meeting, there may be a game of bingo.

Club auction raised £20

We had a Club Auction yesterday for Tuesday Club funds. 10 people attended and managed to raise £20 in total! Thank you to the members who took part.

Mavis announced that a deposit of £5 is needed for this year’s Christmas meal at the Mount on Wednesday 3 December. This deposit is non-refundable. Menus to follow soon.

Harvest Service 2025

Today 11 members attended this year’s Harvest Service led by Jean Lee. She was assisted by her husband Chris.

Members donated tins and other foodstuff, which will be donated to Compassion Acts.

Alison celebrates her 90th birthday

One of our members, Alison Chester, recently celebrated her 90th birthday. Unfortunately, Alison was in hospital then, but is now back home.

Today Barry and Tony delivered a flower basket from everyone at the Tuesday Club. We all send our love and thoughts to Alison as she continues her recovery.

Two successful events today
