Thank you to everyone who has contributed and supported these raffles and games.

Donation received from Mayor of Sefton’s Charity Fund

Today we have received a cheque from the Mayor of Sefton’s Charity Fund for 2024-25. We are one of a number of charities that were awarded various amounts after applications were submitted for funding.

We are delighted to have been awarded the amount of

£484

Many thanks go to the Mayor of Sefton and to all those who made donations to make this possible.

New lights installed in Centre

New LED lights have been put up in the main activity room.

One of the old fluorescent tubes hasn’t been working for some time so it was decided to not only fix that but to replace all three lights with the new LED style so they would all be the same. It will now be brighter and it should also save some electricity too.

Extra room hirings at our Centre for Macmillan Cancer Support

In addition to their Singing Group that already takes place twice a month on Wednesday afternoons, Macmillan Cancer Support are going to start two new classes at the Centre in November.

The new sessions, which will run every week, are:

Tai Chi on Monday afternoons starting 3 November

Talk at Ainsdale Natterjack WI

On Wednesday Carol, David and Tony went to the Ainsdale Natterjack WI to talk about the Deaf Centre and Hearing Dogs. The group were very interested and had a go at signing the alphabet. They asked a few questions too.

A donation of £40 was given to us which has been split between the Centre and Hearing Dogs. Both get £20 each. Thank you to the Ainsdale WI for this and for inviting us to talk to them.

Framed photo returned to Centre

Today Rev. Frank Naylor‘s son visited us to return the framed photograph of the Centre that was presented to Frank when he retired in 2006.

Rev. Frank passed away last year at the age of 86.

End of an era

It’s the end of an era. After many, many years the Saturday Morning Club has closed down. Their last session was on 2 July.

We would like to say a very big thank you to Peter, Katie, Helen, and others, who have been running the Saturday Club over the years.

The page for the Saturday Club has now been removed from our website.

Tuesday Club and Sign Right will continue as usual.

Happy New Year!

Hope 2022 will be a better year for everyone.

The Management Committee is aware Covid cases have risen over the festive period. We are monitoring the situation, but for now, the Centre will reopen as usual next week.

If any member feels unwell or tests positive for Covid, we would advise you to stay at home.

The Tuesday Club will be having their AGM on 11 January as planned.

If things change, please keep an eye on here for any updates.

Christmas hamper winners

The Tuesday Club had their Christmas meal at the Centre yesterday. Everyone enjoyed the food superbly presented by Tomlyn Caterers.

Mike Goodfellow made a generous donation of £150 instead of giving out individual Christmas cards. Thank you, Mike.

The draw for the Christmas hampers took place after the meal, and the winners are listed opposite. Thank you to Dorothy Caven for organising this fundraiser on behalf of the Management Committee.
