TonyAt the Tuesday Club today (20 October) we had Virtual Bowling, which has become a popular activity. Several members took part to see how many strikes they could get and also get the highest score possible.
Tony won the competition with 216 points! Congratulations on your bowling skills!
The Little Theatre in Southport has been in contact to say this year’s BSL performances for their panto Dick Whittington will be on Sunday 20 December at 1pm and 5.30pm.
Seats for the D/deaf community have been reserved. The full price is £16 and concessions £14.
The Deafness Resource Centre in St Helens has invited our members to some upcoming events they have planned:
Bingo afternoon & AGM – Wednesday 7 October, 1pm – 3pm
Autumn wreath making – Tuesday 13 October, 11.30am – 1pm
Christmas Market – Saturday 21 November, 10am – 2pm
Christmas afternoon tea with Prosecco – Friday 4 December, 6pm
The Chippy Birthday Celebration planned for 22 September has been postponed due to some members being unable to attend. A new date for this event will be arranged in due course.
The Tuesday Club special birthday celebration for Maureen Millington and Barry Miller will now be taking place on 22 September instead of 8 September. This means there will be a swap of activities so Games will now take place on 8 September. The Tuesday Club programme has been updated to show this change in dates.
We have received donations in memory of Norma Ashton following her funeral on 6 July. The total amount received is £140.85. Thank you to the family and friends who have supported us.
The 23rd FIFA World Cup recently took place with Spain winning the competition against Argentina. England reached the semi-finals. They beat France in the third-place playoff.
We had a sweepstake before the matches began, and the winners were announced by Dorothy during Sign Right on Friday night (24 July)

One of our former members Norma Ashton has recently passed away. Norma enjoyed going to the Tuesday Club each week and always had a great time there.
Norma’s funeral is taking place at 11am on Monday, 6 July, in the chapel at Southport Funeral Care on Shakespeare Street. It is a small chapel but if any of our present members wish to attend, please let Tony know so he can tell Clare, Norma’s daughter. They are going to the Richmond on Scarisbrick New Road afterwards.
We send our condolences to Clare, her family and friends during this sad time.
The Management Committee has announced that this year’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Tuesday 28 July, at noon, right after the Tuesday Club activities in the morning.

The 2026 Grand National took place at Aintree on Saturday 11 April. We had a sweep and the winners were announced today. They are:
Mike donated half of his winnings (£16) to the Tuesday Club and Management Committee meaning they both get £8 each. Thank you Mike.
The Management Committee also gets £5 on top of the £8 from Mike adding £13 to their funds.

NAME THE TEDDY BEAR
A name guessing game has been played and it was revealed today that the bear is called Snuggles.
Carol G from the Macmillan Singers has correctly guessed the right name so she will be taking Snuggles home.
Money raised from this guessing game came to £24.
